GULYA GROMOVA (OSMANOVA).

"The level of artistry is defined by the artist's ability to get dissolved in the truth. A Chinese legend says artist U Tao Ji (701 – 792 AD) disappeared in the mist of a landscape he had drawn."

I was was born and raised in the eastern Uzbek city of Ferghana, where many cultures were painlessly engrafted in the roots of Muslim traditions and lifestyle.

I live and work in the old uptown district of Tashkent, still a cosmopolitan city.

My inspirations are Michaelangelo, the Flemish school, Tubke, Filonov and Feshin.

I hatch plots of my canvases for months, trimming vague pencil ideas with fragments of faces, unusual perspectives, figures and photos.

It took me years to complete 17 canvases of the "This is Love" series, recently I got interested in Biblical stories and almost finished a cold and cruel Judith.

I graduated from the Binkov art school and the Institute of Theater and Art in Tashkent, and the Russian department of the Ferghana Pedagogical Institute.

A member of the International Federation of Artists, in 1990 – 2007 I have participated in a dozen personal and collective exhibitions in Tashkent, St. Petersburg and Moscow.
